Project Goals

The goal of the U.S. Globec-PFEL project is to describe and understand the characteristic, natural modes of oceanic variability in the Northeast Pacific over decadal time scales by using a combined approach of retrospective analysis of observed environmental data and numerical modeling of circulation and thermohaline structure

Our project goal is consistent with the overall US GLOBEC NEP Program's goal: "To understand the effects of climate variability and change on the distribution, abundance and production of marine animals ... in the eastern North Pacific".
